Wireless Site Survey

Wireless Site Survey

When implementing a data collection application, a company can purchase the best equipment, have the best software and the best intentions and fail miserably if the wireless infrastructure does not work as it should. We recommend that any wireless backbone be installed using a correctly performed "Wireless Site Survey" as a design.

Wireless Signals are Subject to their Environment

Wireless signals behave differently in different environments. Metals, reflect, high water content absorbs so there is no real way to guarantee coverage unless it is tested in the actual environment.

How a Site Survey is done

When we are contracted to do a site survey we bring equipment with us to the installation site. Where possible we use the exact equipment that is to be purchased in order to ensure accurate results. Then we place the "Access Units" in the ceiling and test the coverage from multiple vantage points. When the optimum coverage is determined we note its location on a map and move to the next "Access Unit". At the end of the survey we deliver a "Site Survey Report" to the customer show the optimum placement of each of the Access points or ports along with any site notes that were taken. We note potential future problems, wireless interference sources and other information that is relevant to the installation. We also meet with your IT team and discuss wireless security options and include our security recommendations in the report.

A "Wireless Site Survey" ensures that your new system is safe, secure and works everywhere in your facility that it needs to.
